@Marion: Thank you. I went for a long shutter speed so that the river would have time to flow a lot and become a near perfect mirror.

@Roman: Making light "bloom" rays at night is no secret : just use a small aperture and diffraction will do it. Of course, small aperture + night = long exposure time! So a good, sturdy tripod is a must. I also like to use mirror-up option (if available) + cable release to avoid any camera shake. It really isn't that hard.
